Abaribe: Nigerians have the rights to complain over government failures, says Keyamo

The hullabaloo over the call by the opposition for the resignation of the President is unnecessary. It’s the usual singsong of opposition all over the world. They know it’s not going to happen. It’s just a way of telling govt to do more and we in govt. should see it in that light.

The Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Mr Festus Keyamo, has Reacted to the call for president Muhammadu Buhari’s resignation over insecurity in the country.

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Senate Minority Leader, had asked President Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) to resign over their inability to safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians since 2015.

The Senator said his call for Buhari’s government resignation was due to the fact that the government lied that Boko Haram has been defeated.

He said the hard work that was supposed to be done to secure the country was not done because of the propaganda.

He said excuses for non - performance is now staring them in the face.

He said the opposition members in the National Assembly are of the opinion that Buhari should resign from office.

He said, "Nigerians will go to the government and ask the government to resign because they did not elect the chief of staff, the police IG, service chiefs and others.

"Nigerians voted a government into power. We are going with stones to stone them now because they have failed."

But reacting on his official twitter handle on Friday, Keyamo said the resignation call by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is a message to the ruling party that they need to do more to earn the trust of Nigerians.

He tweeted, "The hullabaloo over the call by the opposition for the resignation of the President is unnecessary. It’s the usual singsong of opposition all over the world. They know it’s not going to happen. It’s just a way of telling govt to do more and we in govt. should see it in that light.
