President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the kiIIings of 'innocent people' by Boko Haram and Islam in West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Gubio village, Borno State.

The President in a statement through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, described the kiIIings as one of the most brutaI te*rorist attacks on innocent people in the North East.


While charging the Army to sustain their fight against the te*ror group, he asked them to 'bring back all those they kıdnapped as well as the large number of cattle rustled.'

Shehu said, "As news of one of the most brutal te*rorist attacks on innocent people emerged from the Northeast, President Muhammadu Buhari said he is deeply shocked by the brutal kiIIing of tens of people by the Boko Haram/Islam in West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Gubio village, Borno State.



"The President, who was expecting a detailed briefing by the Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum on the outcome of his visit to the affected communities, said the 'primordiaI nature of the kiIIings is particularly shocking because it happened not long after the Ramadhan and Eid, and the country is preparing to celebrate the Democracy Day.'


"In condemning the incident, President Buhari charged the armed forces to sustain their recent string of successes against the te*rorists to extract a heavy price from the attackers, and bring back all those they kıdna*ped as well as the large number of cattle rustled."


Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has recently disclosed that the Nigerian Army fighting insurgency in the North-East, has recorded remarkable success within two months even as the country battles covid-19 pandemic.

The general made the disclosure while briefing reporters on the activities of the Nigeria Army on the security situation in the country after meeting with the President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said, "The troops are putting in their best and that has resulted in the tremendous successes we are recording. The fight is still ongoing and over 1,429 of this Boko Haram ter*orists have been neutralised and we have arrested over 166 Boko Haram ter*orist informants, their spies, couriers on logistics and their coordinators in the villages, the towns and even the forest.



“We will continue to deal with the situation, not only in the North East, but all other parts of the country. Tremendous successes have been achieved, and we are very happy with what is going on," he said.
