Your cleansing agenda in Nigerian won't work in the Southwest — Akintoye tells Miyetti Allah

Prof. Banji Akintoye
The leader of the Yoruba World Congress, Emeritus Prof. Banji Akintoye, has said in a statement that the Fulani "cleansing agenda" in the country won't work in the Southwest as the region would resist any attempt to infiltrate and lay claim of their ancestral lands.

Akintoye made the statement in response to a statement by the National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo, saying Southern states would have to accommodate them by providing lands for Fulani to settle.

Speaking on behalf of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Abdulahi Bodejo, had claimed that Fulani don’t need permission from anyone to settle in any land of their choice because Nigeria belongs to them and they founded it.

In response, the Director of Communications, YWC, Mr Moses Jolayemi, in a statement on Tuesday, said the sponsors of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore were calling for war.

“Ordinarily, the YWC would not respond to such imbecilities but considering the fact that the fellow in question may not be acting alone, we have decided to send him back to his masters that no part of Yorubaland will be ceded to any Fulani marauders under any guise and for any reason,” the statement said.

Akintoye in the statement said the Yoruba nation would resist every attempt by “a small, ignoble clique of feudal jingoists” to foist themselves on the rest of the country or annex the Southwest.

He said, “If other tribes so desire, they can allow their inheritance and indeed their ancestry to be obliterated by these elements who are clandestinely carrying out a carefully mapped ethnic cleansing agenda. But for the Yoruba, such ambition can only remain a mere dream.”

Meanwhile, recent revelations by a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Obadiah Mailafia, during a ‘Morning Crossfire’ programme on Nigeria Info Abuja 95. 1 FM, claims that most of the attacks across the country particularly in the North, are linked and aimed at achieving one goal.

He said, “Boko Haram and the bandits are one and the same. They have a sophisticated network."
