Buhari losing confidence in service chiefs, summons Buratai

President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, for a meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, possibly over the deteriorating security situation in the country, particularly, in the North.

Buhari who has repeatedly expressed confidence in the Military Chiefs in charge of the security architecture in the country, is said to have been losing patience as security situations in North continues to worsen.

Last month, the President warned heads of the security agencies against any further escalation of the security situation in the country, telling them that their “best is not good enough”.

He also underscored the need for them to take into consideration the “wider implication of the gradual decent of the security of the country” and called for “immediate reversal of the current trend” and “misfortunes in all their dimensions”. But, the situation is yet to improve.
