KADUNA CARNAGE: There's blood in the Church — By William Adams

The Church is as guilty as its oppressors.

They say President Muhammadu Buhari loves Pastors. What they didn't say however, is why he loves Pastors.

Apart from Dr. Chuba Williams Okadigbo in 2003, and Edwin Ume-Ezeoke, in 2007, Buhari's last two running mates, Tunde Bakare in 2011, Yemi Osinbajo in 2015 and 2019, were all Pastors. Former Secretary General of the Federation (SGF) to the President, David Babachir Lawal, is a Pastor. Lastly,Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, to President Muhammadu Buhari, Femi Adesina, is also a Pastor.

Why does Buhari loves Pastors? One could argue that it's a blessing to have such people in government, Buhari's government at that. They are believed to be eyes of the Church at the seat of power. They are also believed to be there to serve the interests of the Church. Surely, their presence around the Muslim run government, is a blessing.

If you are one of those who share that belief, then you'd have the blood of the slain to account for, when you stand before the righteous Judge.

The Bible clearly says "don't let anyone fool you!" It is however, hard to believe that Christians have been grossly outsmarted in the shared entity called Nigeria, for many years. We have Christians who are conversant with history, who know where the faultlines are, but who have done nothing to protect the faith they profess.

It is no longer a secret that Christianity is suffering in Nigeria. Our oppressors no longer act in secrecy. In fact, they are emboldened with each successful attack knowing the government both Federal and State, got their backs. For years, they go on rampage, carrying out massive assault against our people using military grade weapons, while those being gruesomely murderded are told to exercise restraint. Astonishingly, no one's even asking questions about where our oppressors get their weapons and trainings.

There's nothing strange about Christian persecution in Nigeria. It's not like we are any ignorant about the agenda against Christianity in the country. But it does appear as though the Church finds satisfaction in counting its loses. What you see after an attack, is some flashes of reactions (if at all) for a while, then Church leaders soon put the incidents behind them, and go back to politics.

We have talked about OIC before. We have talked about Fulanization agenda before, and still make much noise about Islamization agenda. We also believe in the Northern agenda against the South. And have also been warned that Nigeria is another Turkey in the making. The evidences to support these claims are very much in the open, yet the Church is asleep.

Many may have forgotten, but Pastor Olatunbosun Emmanuel, from the Redeemed Christian Church of God, raised alarm prior to 2015 presidential election, when he made shocking revelations on the hidden agenda behind the murderous activities of boko haram, fulani herdsmen, and other secret killings of Christians going on in the country. Bosun made it clear that whether Christians believe it or not, there's a secret jihad being waged against Christians in their very own country. He very clearly warned against the election of a Muslim as president in the 2015 election, and the implications of doing so, which he said would do much damage to Christianity and unless God showed mercy, the nation would end up like Turkey. But as I write this, Buhari is currently serving his second term in office.

Has God abandoned Christians in Nigeria? Of course not, it is rather very much the other way around. Jesus said in Matthew 12:29 (NET) "How else can someone enter a strong man’s house and steal his property, unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can thoroughly plunder the house."

As stated earlier, Christians have been outsmarted by those they called illiterate Almajiris from the North. What has the Pastors serving in Buhari's administration done to protect the faith handed over to us?

Northern elites are a truly smart people! While we think the Pastors were appointed for the best interest of Christianity in the country, they were actually used to experiment how weak Christian leaders in the country are. They are the kind of shepherds Jesus described in John 10:12. Pastor Bosun was actually right when he said, there's nothing that can stop Nigeria from becoming another Turkey unless God shows mercy.

The Church in Nigeria is full of hired servants not shepherds. There is little or no evidence they can lay their lives so the Church can survive. This is especially evident when the Pastors around the president are suddenly blind to the atrocities and injustice being meted against the very people they mount pulpits to teach.

There's so much bloodshed in the land, but the Church is as guilty as its oppressors.

It is time for the Church to wake up! It is not time for division! If there's any time to stop the light from being snuffed out, it is not tomorrow.
